Take One Picture

In 2005 all linccs Primary Schools embarked on an adventure to explore this painting:-
Over 380 pupils took part in the project inspired by the National Gallery’s ‘Take One Picture’ scheme.  Months of hard work were celebrated at linccs very own exhibition held at Haverstock School at the end of the summer.  The exhibition comprised film & animations that showed the painting come alive, collages and board games, illustrated story books, poetry, paintings and radio work.
Many outside agencies had worked alongside the pupils and teachers to assist in the creation of the exciting cross- curricular work exhibited.  Story telling workshops were run for each school, consultants developed the pupils’ drama and writing skills and a professional artist was employed to help the pupils execute their ideas.   Rhyl year 5 worked with radio experts from Camden Central Radio whilst others from Carlton and St.Michaels were thrilled to work on cutting edge digital work in a high tech centre.

Element Poems – Yr 5 Carlton

The Goddess of Water
by Shekilla Hector

The Goddess of Water

My name is Wave of Life.
I am the Goddess of Water.
I help plants and trees to grow
By feeding my precious water to their roots.
My hair is a flowing river,
My dress is a meandering stream.
I pour my colours over the land-
Blue, green and silver.

Sometimes you see me flowing
Calmly, calmly over the rough rocks.
Sometimes you see me crashing
Angrily, angrily making shipwrecks
And disasters.

All people need me.
All people drink me
And I smoothly slide down
Their dehydrated throats.

I am as clear as ice,-
In fact, I can even be ice.
So whether I am solid or liquid
I am everywhere you go.

The God of Earth
by Gzim and Rayhan

The God of Earth

I am the God of earth.
My name is Rock.
I am the strongest of all the elements.
Heavy, hard and powerful-
I can shake up the world!

When I crack open water flows out
Giving life to flowers and plants.

It is I who makes volcanoes erupt
So water and fire need to respect and obey me
For they would not exist without me.

Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha !!!!

I am everywhere you go.

The Goddess of Air
by Lauren Wilkins

The Goddess of Air

I am the Goddess of Air
My name is Flow!

I can see you-
But you cannot see me
For I am invisible
And like a thief I steal your papers
Without leaving a single finger print behind.

You all moan about me in winter
When I blow cold.
But when it is hot you thank me
For my cool breezes.

Without me you would not be able to breathe.
Without me –
You would all die.

The God of Fire
by Mohamed Mohamed

The God of Fire

I am the God of Fire!
My name is Fry.

I live in a hot, boiling volcano –
Deep and dark under the ground.
Creatures like flames burn all around me.
They are my slaves
And bring me Earth’s gold and silver.

I am the strongest of all the elements.
Nothing can stop me.
I could burn the whole world if I wanted to!
So humans, watch out!
If you make me angry,
I will burn your houses down.
