Linccs With The Laureate

A fabulous celebration to mark the end of Michael Rosen’s time as Children’s Laureate was held at Haverstock School.  Pupils entertained with their own versions of his work through performances, films and artwork. Michael also took part and bowed out in style by joining huge images of himself on stage.  He captivated young and old alike by bringing extracts of his work to life.

Joel and Callum Rap:   Yr 6 Holy Trinity & St.Silas

A hip, hop
Feel the rhythm of the pop.
We’re giving you all that Joel and Callum’ve got.
A hip, hop
Feel the rhythm of the pop.
We’re giving you all that Joel and Callum’ve got.

I was born on the 8th of May
I remember well that funny day.
I was in my mother’s womb
Though I have to say it was like an Egyptian tomb.
Nothing to do, didn’t have to breathe
But because it was warm didn’t want to leave.

Suddenly I heard the doctor shout
“I’d like to get the baby out.”
I popped out my head and said
“Watch me walk.”
And everyone was impressed that I could talk.
I danced and tapped around that room
Balaam be do be lamb be lamb be doom.

When I was one I had one thumb
When I was two my hands were numb.
When I was three I went to school
When I was four I became a fool.
When I was five I got roasted alive
When I was six I fell in a beehive.
When I was seven I won the grand prix
When I was eight I swam the whole sea.
When I was nine I tried roasted pheasants
But now I’m ten I’m in the present.

So that’s what I am that’s what I be
With a J and a O and a L and a C.
So that’s what I am that’s what I be
Mr. Joel, Mr. Callum, Mr. Cool, Mr. Me.
